Leaves are falling all around, time I was on my way.

It's been a strange old few weeks, and I’m behind on my ramblings, so let’s not ramble on too much…….

Dix Hut, Arolla

The weather has been very up and down over the last few weeks, but saying that routes have been getting done. Here’s a quick taster.

12th August - Brenva Spur, reported to be in good condition and no probs with the upper seracs. Be careful though now with all this heat and no real re-freezing at night.

Chamonix Update 5th August - Changeable Conditions

Greetings and salutations fellow humans.

Yes I know it’s been a few days since I last reported in, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Here goes.

Conditions are changing quite quickly out here. We seem to be having a day of good weather then a day of bad, with snow down to 2500 this week and the freezing level is around 3500 to 3900. Valley temps have been averaging 25 c but colder on some days.

Looking out of the apartment window I can see the Midi and the summit of the Blanc. Wha...

Sunday 4th July-Friday 9th.

Hail and greetings from the Chamonix valley.

Afraid to say this week has found me in a lazy mood. It didn’t start too well having caught a stinking cold, which of course turned into the worst case of man flu ever!  I have however soldiered on.

So how are things out here in the land of ice and snow? Well, to be honest, no real change from last week, just less snow. It has been dammed hot all week, into the 30’s in the valley, and the isotherm freezing...
