Reasons to be cheerful Part 3

Posted by Rob Wills on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, In : Chamonix 2012 Summer Updates

Well the weather this week has been like a fiddlers elbow, up and down.

The Traverse of the Entreve was done by Mike Peascod early this week, great route from the Torino hut, or on your way to the hut.

4th July Voucher Route on the Peigne, sounded like it was in ok conditions, dry rock for the most part.

30th June Dent Du Geant, just be caref...

Leaves are falling all around, time I was on my way.

The weather has been very up and down over the last few weeks, but saying that routes have been getting done. Here’s a quick taster.

Conditions are changing quite quickly out here. We seem to be having a day of good weather then a day of bad, with snow down to 2500 this week and the freezing level is around 3500 to 3900. Valley temps have been averaging 25 c but colder on some days.

Looking out of the apartment window I can see the Midi and the summit of the Blanc. Wha...

Posted by Rob on Friday, July 9, 2010, In : Chamonix Conditions Summer 2010

Sunday 4th July-Friday 9th.

Hail and greetings from the Chamonix valley.

Afraid to say this week has found me in a lazy mood. It didn’t start too well having caught a stinking cold, which of course turned into the worst case of man flu ever!  I have however soldiered on.

So how are things out here in the land of ice and snow? Well, to be honest, no real change from last week, just less snow. It has been dammed hot all week, into the 30’s in the valley, and the isotherm freezing...
