Guess who's back in town

Posted by Rob on Saturday, February 25, 2012, In : Scotland 2012
Guess who’s back in town. Yeah that’s right……..So what have I been up to in the last few weeks, months.

Well the last month or so has been spent in Scotland, ducking and diving with the weather on the West coast, working for Adventure Peaks. The first couple of courses were Denali skills for Angus, Steve and Paul who are heading out there in a few months time. Having lived in Talkeetna for 18 months a while ago, I guess I have a bit of a feel for the place. The other courses have ...

Cairngorms Routes Update 7th January 2011

Posted by Rob on Friday, January 7, 2011, In : Scotland Conditions 2011

Cairngorms 7th Jan 2011.

Greetings one and all, just when you thought it was safe to go back into the mountains, I’m back......

Had a stroll into the Northen Corries today, quite busy up there, had to park in lower of the car parks, then get bus up to Coire Cas car park, mainly skiers I thought. The walk in wasn’t too bad, bit of a head wind slowed things down and had moved quite a bit of snow around, so the path wasn’t that obvious, the wind was about 15/20 mph which made it feel COO...

The weather system which brought the flash floods to the French Riviera a couple of weeks ago also brought a huge dump of snow to the Alps. The floods subsided pretty quickly but most of the fresh snow is still here in the Chamonix Valley, which is great news for lots of routes.

Here's a summary of my week - what I've done and what I've seen.

This week's training regime

Posted by Rob on Thursday, December 10, 2009, In : Training

Well folks, seems like I'm spending most of my spare time pounding either the fells or Cannock Chase. It's Thursday and already I have spent, since Sunday, a grand total of 9 hrs running this week so far, according to my run diary. Hmmm thats why my legs are sooooo annoyed with me.

Anyroad, they are having rest tomorow as I'm of to the climbing wall (Redpoint, in Birmingham) for a sesh with me big boots on and a heavy sac, just to make life interesting. This is all just for the first trip to ...
