Cham Thursday 22nd July - via ferrata and Alpine update

   This week I have mostly been doing other things………


Via ferrata Le Mont

So Sunday we went round to Samoens, well Sixt Fer A Cheval, about 2 hrs drive from Cham, to do Via Ferrata Le Mont. I’ve done it before a while ago, but just needed to get a new view of it. It’s 800 metres long, can take up to 3 to 4 hrs to do, especially if you get caught up behind folks. It takes about 20 mins to walk up to it, has a small café at the bottom and,  close by ...

Chamonix 17th July - latest conditions

Well sun worshipers its been a hot week in the valley, not spotted any hosepipe bans yet but will keep you posted on that one. Before we get into this week’s action, I’d just like you to spare a thought and sympathy for the friends and family of the folks we lost in the Mont Blanc range this week…

Ok here we go, Day one, Sunday was spent up on the Aiguilles Rouges, there is still loads of snow left up there, but none of it really now affecting the access to routes, more the descent...

Mont Blanc  Week. 27th June – 2nd July.

Greetings one and all, another week in the valley. This week saw me preparing clients for Mont Blanc, working on their acclimatisation and then guiding them to the summit.

The weather system which brought the flash floods to the French Riviera a couple of weeks ago also brought a huge dump of snow to the Alps. The floods subsided pretty quickly but most of the fresh snow is still here in the Chamonix Valley, which is great news for lots of routes.
